This is the approved industry standard certificate for people working or volunteering in an organisation that provides a service to, or works with, children and young people in South Australia.
On completing this program, participants will:
- Have an awareness of how their own values, attitudes and experiences will impact on their understanding of children and young people being harmed and their responses to children and young people who may have suffered harm.
- Be aware of the importance of maintaining a child’s perspective when considering the possibility of children and young people at risk of harm.
- Have the ability to identify a range of indicators concerning harm and risk of harm.
- Be able to discuss the concept of child‐safe environments and shared responsibility for the protection of children and young people.
- Be competent in the process and procedure of reporting to the Child Abuse Report Line and fully understand their legal responsibility to notify any suspicion on reasonable grounds.
These courses are available in either face-to-face sessions or online virtual classrooms.
