Learn the importance of proper manual handling techniques in the workplace to maintain a safe work environment.

Poor manual handling practice is one of the most common causes of injury in the workplace and the injuries can be disabling and costly.

Every industry requires workers to have knowledge of safe manual handling techniques, particularly industries that are at higher risks including aged care and healthcare, construction, warehousing, and manufacturing.

Participants in this course will learn:

What is manual handling
Legal requirements and responsibilities
Assessing manual handling tasks and managing risks
Biomechanics and ergonomics
Proper lifting techniques

Participants will be assessed on their knowledge through quizzes and scenarios.

Damien Wilson

Damien provides a depth of knowledge and skills in providing ICT training and consulting, specialising in “plain English” explanations, and the Microsoft Office suite of products. Having recently completed the Undergraduate Certificate in Cybersecurity and Networking, Damien is conversant with the current technologies and techniques to ensure a safe and secure experience when working with IT systems both as a user and the organisation. Damien’s skills in business, financial management and regulatory compliance are not only applied to our own organisation, but also to several community organisations as a board member and/or treasurer including Limestone Coast Women’s Football League (of which Damien is also vice-chair), South Gambier Football Club, and Spare Ya Change 4 Kids and as a volunteer for Four Reasons Why.
