When in either a workplace or other setting, the importance of following instructions can be extreme.

In a workplace following instructions can make a huge difference with regards to health and safety, meeting deadlines and the efficiency and effectiveness of the team. This can cause harm, slow the decision making process, delay deliveries (information or products), or even interrupt payment of accounts, expenses or wages. All very important things!

When it comes to study, following instructions can alter your results and influence the assessment process. This can delay further knowledge, the possibility of promotion or major changes in your role. Not following instructions in this area, could lead to having to repeat your activities or redo your work, which to be honest, is never fun and not something anyone really wants to do. It can make the activities annoying and stressful.

Most of these situations could be removed by making sure to confirm or clarify the questions, activities or situation, and you can remove any doubts, questions or misunderstandings by just asking a few simple questions or checking your understanding. Making it so much simpler to be able to complete tasks on time and in the manner required. The saying “There is no stupid questions” is not 100% correct, but without some stupid questions you might not have all the information and fail or not be able to follow instructions to get the desired result.

So, it’s not all about following instructions as communication plays a major part and in a world where you can communicate in so many ways we should really have no problems follow instructions.
